I am facing an issue where my username automatically appears inside the body of an email I reply to or forward.
Whenever I hit on the spacebar as the first character to start editing or answering within the quoted email message, my username will appear as [John] in the email message.
- For information on changing font sizes, see Change the font size in Outlook for Mac. Hyperlinked text is underlined and displayed in a blue font, but you can edit the font, size, color, and style. Highlight the word or words that you want to turn into a link.
- The inline reply feature is currently available in the preview version of Office 2013. Although it is a program setting, accounts from some email services, such as Gmail, are not compatible with this feature. In our test, Outlook's inline reply worked with Hotmail emails but not with Gmail's.
Is there any way to turn this off?
When answering in-line (meaning, within the original message text), Outlook has the option to mark these as comments. By default it will use your name, but you can configure it to something else and also simply disable this option if you don't like it at all.

You can find this option by going to;
- Outlook 2007 and previous
Tools-> Options…-> button E-mail Options…-> option group: On replies and forwards-> option: Mark my comments with - Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016
File-> Options-> section Mail-> option group: Replies and forwards-> option: Preface comments with
The Preface Comments feature automatically adds your name when typing within the original quoted text of a Reply or Forward. Djay free download mac.
Undo the preface insertion for some emails
If you like to leave the feature on but not use it for all emails, you can hit CTRL+Z when your name gets inserted to quickly undo this insertion and write your comment or changes without the preface.
Note 1: When adding comments to a HTML or Rich Text formatted email message, it will use the same color as that you have configured for replying to or forwarding messages.

Traditionally, when you reply to an email in Outlook, you simply click Reply and compose your message within the new window that opens. However, with Outlook 2013, you now respond to a message from inside the Reading Pane, with your response entered above the original message. Many users may not prefer this streamlined interface and may want to switch back to the compose window in order to access all of the features it includes. This tutorial will provide all the necessary steps for you to achieve this task.
The inline reply feature is currently available in the preview version of Office 2013. Although it is a program setting, accounts from some email services, such as Gmail, are not compatible with this feature. In our test, Outlook's inline reply worked with Hotmail emails but not with Gmail's. Hopefully, this setting will be available to all when the final version comes out.
Many user will want to revert back the replying method of the prior versions of Outlook anyway.
1. Launch Outlook 2013.
2. Click the blue File button at the top left of the window to open the Backstage view.
3. In the Backstage view, choose Options from the left side.
4. In the new window, go to the Mail section.
5. On the right side of the window, scroll down to the Replies and forwards section, and uncheck the Use inline replies when replying or forwarding option.
6. Hit the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the setting.
